The ancient Chinese coins symbolise prosperity and their meaning originates from ancient times when coins were used as amulets as protection against disease, evil or negative energy directed at the wearer.

The Bagua coin is a Taoist symbol of heaven (the outer circle) and earth (the square hole in the middle).
