Tea Tree 100% - (Melaleuca alternifolia)

The Tea Tree is a small tree, growing to 7 metres. It has small, soft narrow leaves and delicate cream coloured flowers that look very similar to the Bottle Brush. Tea tree oil is taken from the leaves, and after distillation of around 2-3 hours the oil ranges from colourless to pale yellow.

Scent: Fresh and strong. This versatile Australian oil is claimed by some to be a medicine chest in a bottle. The essential oil is for external use only and it should always be diluted with a suitable carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil before applying to the skin. Keep it away from children and pets. It is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals.

Use for abrasions, abscesses, acne, antiseptic, athlete's foot, blisters, burns, cold sores, cuts, head lice, insect bites, laundry antiseptic, nappy rash, scalds, septic wounds, thrush, etc. A course of massage with Tea Tree oil before an operation may help to fortify the body and reduce post-operative shock.

Tea Tree oil is a very powerful immune stimulant and helps fight infections of all kinds and helps clear the skin. As a blended massage oil or diluted in the bath, Tea Tree oil may assist with: arthritis, colds, dermatitis, infections, scalp disorders, sinusitis, viral infections, nettle rash, babies colds and coughs, bronchitis, minor children's infections and for sweaty feet.

Mouthwash Tea Tree oil can be used as a mouthwash for: gum infections, mouth ulcers, throat infections and tonsillitis.
