Peppermint 100% - (Mentha arvensis)
Peppermint Arvensis is known for its high content of menthol, so high in fact, that menthol crystals form on the surface of the leaves. There are several species of this perennial herb that can grow to 1 metre in height, spreading due to their underground 'runners'.
Scent: Refreshing, sharp, piercing, menthol. Peppermint oil is extracted from the whole plant above ground just before flowering. The oil is extracted by steam distillation from the fresh or partly dried plant The oil is for external use only and it should always be diluted with a suitable carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil before applying to the skin.
Peppermint oil should be avoided during pregnancy and should not be used on children under seven. Keep it away from children and pets. It is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals. The therapeutic properties of Peppermint oil are: analgesic, antiseptic, anti-infectious, anti-spasmodic, carminative, emmenagogue, expectorant, decongestant, digestive, stimulant, vasoconstrictor and vermifuge.
